Selection aid for FDM/FFF printers
How to choose the right FDM/FFF printerPrint volumeWith standard 3D printers, you can make short sculptures with an average or small surface. Higher-end printers are recommended if you want to be able to 3D print taller objects. Obviously, a taller object takes more time to print. Do you plan to create only small or low objects? Then a compact model 3D printer is sufficient. Camera If the 3D printer has a camera, you can monitor the progress of your prints remotely. Network If the printer has a network connection, you can control it from the PC without a USB cable or without having to put files on an SD card or USB stick first. With printers that feature a camera, you can often monitor the prints via the network. In some cases, the manufacturer even has an app to control the printer. Heated bed When printing some types of filament it can happen that your print warps. This is because the material cools down too quickly. A heated bed, as the name implies, keeps the printer bed warm to ensure that this does not happen. A 3D printer without a heated bed provides good printing results with PLA and PETG filament. The addition of a heated bed to the printer also makes it possible to print without warping with materials such as ABS and HIPS. |
